Each year, the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg sponsors several annual conferences, including:

Annual Peace Symposium

To commemorate the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, WACH sponsors an annual International Peace Symposium and presents “Peacemaker in Our Midst” awards to local leaders who are advocates for peace.

International Women’s Conference

Explores issues of importance to women in our local communities and around the world. Former conferences have focused on Women and Power, Women and Politics and Women and Immigration.


Annual International Young Leaders Conference

WACH’s summer interns from high schools and colleges throughout the capital region organize the annual young leaders conference that has been held each year in August at Harrisburg University.

International Poetry & Storytelling Festival

Young writers have an opportunity to learn from seasoned poets and storytellers at this annual event held on the evening of MLK Day in Harrisburg.  The Council sponsors a high school competition and presents awards at the banquet event.
